Can you share this ?

A Message from Jimmy Wales, Wikipedia Founder. Please help if you can.

Dear TANMOY,
Here's how the Wikipedia fundraiser works: Every year we raise just the funds that we need, and then we stop.
Because you and so many other Wikipedia readers donated over the past weeks, we are very close to raising our goal for this year by December 31 -- but we're not quite there yet.
You've already done your part this year. Thank you so much. But you can help us again by forwarding this email to a friend who you know relies on Wikipedia and asking that person to help us reach our goal today by clicking here and making a donation.
If everyone reading this email forwarded it to just one friend, we think that would be enough to let us end the fundraiser today.
Of course, we wouldn't turn you down if you wanted to make a second donation or a monthly gift.
Google might have close to a million servers. Yahoo has something like 13,000 staff. We have 679 servers and 95 staff.
Wikipedia is the #5 site on the web and serves 470 million different people every month – with billions of page views.
Commerce is fine. Advertising is not evil. But it doesn't belong here. Not in Wikipedia. Wikipedia is something special. It is like a library or a public park. It is like a temple for the mind. It is a place we can all go to think, to learn, to share our knowledge with others.
When I founded Wikipedia, I could have made it into a for-profit company with advertising, but I decided to do something different. We’ve worked hard over the years to keep it lean and tight. We fulfill our mission, and leave waste to others.
Thanks again for your support this year. Please help spread the word by forwarding this email to someone you know.
Thanks,
Jimmy Wales
Wikipedia Founder

Support the Movement

You may not know Jimmy Wales, Founder of Wikipedia (a non profit organization), but on every day whenever you log into Internet and search for various topics, you hit Wikipedia. The vision behind this movement has only one motto, share your knowledge. Moreover, while browsing through Wikipedia, you never hit by an advertisement, it maintain the very purpose it was built. As a non profit organization Wikipedia depends upon the donor from all over the world. We as a individual may not be able to donate a large contribution but every penny you donate adds up. Please take a step and donate whatever you could, not only for your comfort of receiving knowledge, but to support this initiative of free knowledge sharing across the globe for our future generation. I support the cause, don't you ?

The Bull

The bull was strong and glittering as I approached towards; little did I know fall season will see the biggest fall of some financial conglomerates. It was 2nd week of September, sunny sky, bull was surrounded by visitor all over the world, like me. I was looking for direction in WTC station and asked an officer how to reach the freedom monument (Statue of Liberty). The officer replied “ Sir , would you mind walking for another 10min or so ?” , I answered , “ Not a Problem”, And the direction comes , Go straight , take right and walk down till you see the bull …, the bull !! Caught my mind and I was wondering how it looks like.

The recent financial crisis is not a new thing to me. Seeing BSE index falling from 20k to 13k, I am pretty much familiar of the devastating nature of this, losing money like othes. But the bull, gives me hope by his grit and I was hoping he will fight back hard, keeping our hopes alive.

A week later on Monday, 16th Sep, series of new developments happen in the existing credit crisis market. Wall Street major Lehman Brothers, an innovator in global finance for 158 years filed for Bankruptcy and Merrill Lynch finds survivor in Bank of America. AIG gets fed as its survivor and Morgan Stanley looking for options, the list goes on... This developments causes direct effect with other financial market over the world and inside US, the working people know how much their 401k went haywire. And looks like all things started with one aim to make money somehow and doing so our innovator investment bankers was failed to judge between good and bad. My little knowledge on financial market does not have better words than this.

16th Sep week will be forever in the financial history, the crisis how it evolved and destroyed some of the big names in Wall Street.

Fight back ..Mr Bull ..fight back ..

Apple way of Browsing

Perhaps you know, Apple computer unveils their Safari browser for windows, which gives us a option to explore something exciting, an usual Apple trademark of doing things in a different way. Apple website informs us customers from all over the world downloaded more than 1 million copies of the Safari for Windows public beta. Apple claims Safari 3 as worlds fastest and easiest-to use web browser, which supports all modern Internet standards including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SVG and Java. So, like others, I too have downloaded Safari from Apple website. The installer is small around 7.5MB, won't take much long to download, and the installation was quick and quite. The interface resembles itune kinda style and features are pretty much similar like other popular web browser, IE or Firefox. But all of sudden safari crashed for the first time without any reason, it seems the pop up page from safari has an issue. That is reasonable , considering it'€™s beta product. Apart from this glitch, it was running smooth. The pages does load faster and download of files through safari opens up a separate download window, similar to Firefox. You can also select private browsing to left your footprints unnoticed from others. New tab can be opened by key shortcut or via menu options. History tab in menu options shows browsed sites day wise which is configurable. Also it comes with a search tab, where you can choose search engine like Google or Yahoo. Overall the experience was satisfactory. Why don't you try it out . Safari can be downloaded from here .
